Why Photos Make a Difference
In case you don’t know, I’m Stacey of Stacey Markel Photography. I have always had a passion for photography, which goes back as far as I remember. I started my business in 2013 after much internal debate about whether or not I could actually do it and be successful. Successful to me didn’t mean making a ton of money since I already have a full time job as a safety consultant, but would people want to book with me? I’m so happy when clients choose ME to capture their images, whether for high school seniors or families. I still feel like I need to pinch myself.

So, why do photos make a difference in the lives of clients? It can capture the love you share with someone, whether it’s a couple celebrating a recent engagement or a family sharing a big hug or a high school senior capturing their final days of high school and looking forward to the adventure that awaits them or "just because". It could be capturing a moment when something is changing in your life. It could be a new baby or a celebration of remission from a recent cancer diagnosis or capturing your daughter in your wedding dress. It’s a moment in time captured for you to look back at years later. This is the part of photographing families that I just love. Growing up, it was mostly just my Mom and I. She took so many pictures of me but she was rarely in any herself. When she passed away in 2013 and I went in search for images of her and of her and I together, there were very few. When I eventually found a few, I made sure to treasure them. I want Moms and Dads to understand how important it is to get in the frame with their children. It doesn’t matter that you need to lose a few pounds or you don’t look your absolute best, when your children look at these images now and down the road, they will cherish them because you are in them.
I would love to see a favorite photo from a time in your life that you cherish. Feel free to share the story behind it too!
