Growing up it was mostly my mom and I. When she passed away in 2013, to say it was difficult for me is an understatement. The first thing I wanted to do was remember the times we were together. Looking for photos was one of the first things I did yet I didn't find many and there were hardly any of of the two of us together. Looking back now, I wish I would have gotten more photos of us together.
At that point, I made a conscious effort to get in more photos with my children. It's can be difficult since I'm the photographer of the family. But with a self-timer, I've been able to capture some really great images of me with my children, (although looking back at them now, I see that my daughter plays a starring role and my son is only in a few...I'm going to have to fix that this year!). A time or two, I've asked my husband or my son or daughter to take some. My images would not get me recognized for any awards and they certainly aren't even technically stellar but they are a special piece of our family times together that my children will always have.
I've photographed us playing cards. At bedtime. Doing laundry. Going on walks. I want to capture the everyday things we do together, in addition to the fun trips we take. It's the little things that I want my children to remember. These are the images I've captured in 2015. Starting in 2016, I will be posting my {you & me} images once a month.
