Week 22 {Portrait}

There are many definitions of portrait photography.  To me it's an image of a person that really shows their emotion.  Some people may look at this image and just see a mother hugging her daughter.  I see a mother keeping her daughter warm on a chilly day....I see a mother holding her daughter close while being both her mother and father since my friend's husband is currently in Afghanistan fighting for our country.  This image really captured what portrait photography is all about (to me). 

This was taken of a friend and her daughter during a photo shoot on Memorial Day Weekend.  It was pretty cold outside and the daughter was very uncomfortable.  My friend took a moment to warm her up when I snapped this shot.  It shows the true emotion of a mother and daughter, how mothers will always be there for their daughters.  It's especially emotional to me at the moment since my mother has recently moved in with my husband/kids and I and is now on Hospice.  I am just now getting to return the favor for all those years of her taking care of me :)  Here's to all the mother's out there (who really should be celebrated more than 1 time a year).
